What should I consider in a new unit?

Should I choose a motorized coach or
a travel trailer?

Both motorhomes and travel trailers have advantages and disadvantages. Travel trailers have much better floor plans and thus are easier to live in, but you're still traveling in a car or pickup truck. Motorhomes are more convenient for travel since you have access to your facilities while you're on the highway. Travel trailers or towables come in two basic types; conventional full height and foldable i.e. a hardtop tent trailer. If you like to go to one spot and will be staying there for an extended period of time, you will like a towable better. If you'll be spending your time on the highway, and traveling from place to place, a motorhome will provide a better solution for you.

What size unit will work for my family?

The most common mistake made by RV buyers is to buy too small. If you will spend a month or more at a time in this unit, you shouldn’t consider anything less than 30 feet. Remember, inside the coach 1 or 2 feet can make a big difference and it will make very little difference in the cost, weight or maneuverability of the unit.

Should I consider a slide room?

Slide rooms have many advantages and only a few minor disadvantages. Dramatic new floor plans with added views and greater comfort are possible with even a small slide room. Slide rooms work very well and are well worth the added investment. They are engineered to provide instant built in room and trouble free mechanical features. They will provide increased social possibilities and add to the resale value of your unit. You will lose some storage space with a slide room but the extra interior room is worth it.
